Welcome!

History

Lafayette Press Inc. was founded in the early 1900's (the exact year still eludes us, we do have a copy of an incorporation seal dated 1930!) as a small family owned business serving the social and commercial printing needs of the local community on the west side of Manchester, New Hampshire. Through the decades Lafayette Press Inc. remained focused on the local community, especially the large French population residing in Manchester, with the publishing and printing of several French newspapers.

The 1960's brought change in the form of urban renewal for a large part of a west side Manchester neighborhood necessitating a move to a new location and changes in ownership and the decline of the newspaper part of the business. In the 1970's under the ownership of Edmond Girard, who started at Lafayette at the age of 16, straight from Canada, in January of 1960, built Lafayette Press into a full on family business with a prominent place within the southern New Hampshire area.

The 1990's brought more change, Ed's son, Jay Girard took over as owner and facing an aging building and equipment moved to a new upgraded facility. This chapter for Lafayette Press would continue for some time, but this would not be the last step in a long history!

In 2007, with Jay Girard still leading the way, with a full blown focus on all that is technology, and for the first time in almost 100 years, Lafayette Press moved to the east side of Manchester in what is now our current location.

However, no matter where we are, our mission had remained the same throughout our history,
and that is family, pride, craftsmanship, community, honor and integrity.
